I need help please on general IP addressing principles as related to setting SQL Server 2005
On a PC running Windows XP I want to be able to access SQL Server from outside the building. I have Verizon FIOS coming in and I enabled port 1433 for SQL Server on the Verizon router
On the laptop running Windows 7, I want ot be able to access a local copy of SQL Server or remotely access the PC running Windows XP from on the road.
With Verizon, the IP addresses are not static so how do I set up IP addressing on both machines and what do I put in to the SQL Server Configurator to enable which IP addresses.
Very confused
thanks
